Coir Logs: The Eco-Friendly Erosion Control Solution

Coir Logs

Protect and Restore Fragile Environments with Coir Logs

Coir logs, also known as Coco logs, are non-woven products

created using tightly compressed coir fiber packs encased in cylindrical coir
mesh netting. These versatile logs serve as powerful tools for stabilizing
vulnerable streams, rivers, and lake banks. Designed to withstand various
environmental conditions, coir logs aid in erosion control, promote plant
growth, and facilitate microbial activity. Crafted from 100% biodegradable
organic material, these logs are environmentally friendly, providing a stable
substrate for root development and serving as an effective filtration system
without any harm to the soil.

Key Features of Coir Logs:

1. Environmentally Friendly: Coir logs are made from 100% biodegradable and natural materials, ensuring minimal impact on the environment.

2. Erosion Control: Coir logs effectively stabilize slopes, streambanks, hillsides, and other erosion-prone areas, safeguarding against soil displacement.

3. Variable Sizes: Available in various lengths and diameters, standard coir logs typically range from 20cm to 40cm in diameter and 2m to 6m in length, ensuring suitability for diverse project requirements.

4. High Strength and Reinforcement: The densely packed coir fibers within the logs provide exceptional strength and reinforcement, offering long-lasting erosion control capabilities.

5. Easy Installation: Coir logs can be easily installed and joined together using coir twine, reducing installation time and effort.

6. Natural Vegetation Support: Coir logs create an ideal environment for vegetative growth, allowing for the establishment of plants and promoting the natural restoration of ecosystems.

7. Flexible and Resilient: Coir logs are designed to withstand variable water levels and wave action, making them suitable for locations with fluctuating water conditions.

8. Multiple Applications: Coir logs find applications in stabilization of slopes, restoration of marshes, reinforcement of banks, erosion control along shorelines, and beach restoration.

9. Customizable Options: Coir logs are available in standard density and high density variations, allowing for tailored solutions based on project requirements.

10.Pre-Drilled Convenience: Some coir logs come pre-drilled with slots, enabling easy installation and facilitating the planting of seedlings.

Choosing the Right Coir Log for Your Project:

1. Standard Density Coir Logs:

Suitable for average conditions, standard density coir logs are cost-effective erosion control solutions. They are made of 100% coir fibers encased in a 2″x2″ coir netting, promoting natural erosion control and vegetative growth.

2. High Density Coir Logs:

Recommended for rigorous terrains, high flow areas, and harsh environmental conditions, high density coir logs offer superior performance and durability. Manufactured with 100% coir fibers enclosed in a rhombic coir netting, these logs provide reliable erosion control for the most demanding situations.

3. Pre-Drilled Coir Logs:

These logs feature pre-drilled slots for easy installation, requiring fewer stakes and providing additional convenience. They are available in standard or high-density options, catering to various project needs.

Installation Guidelines for Coir Logs:

1. Clear the designated area of debris and obstacles that may hinder the placement of coir logs.
2. Dig a trench with the same length as the log and deep enough to accommodate two-thirds of the log’s height.
3. Position the coir log in the trench and secure it with environmentally friendly stakes on the downslope side, spaced approximately 2 to 3 feet apart.
4. For enhanced erosion protection, Adjoining multiple coir logs lengthwise in separate trenches is recommended. Use coir twine to tightly secure the ends of the logs together.
5. Fill the area above each coir log with soil to ensure a snug fit against the ground.
6. In areas where vegetation growth is desired, apply seeded soil above the coir log on the non-water side. The coir logs will naturally biodegrade into the soil while supporting erosion control and vegetation establishment.
7. Coir logs are safe for the environment and wildlife, as they require no non-natural components for erosion control.

COIR LOGS : NATURE’S SOLUTION FOR EROSION CONTROL

Coir fiber logs, made from 100% natural coir fiber and covered by strong coir nettings, provide an ideal choice for stabilizing stream banks and shorelines. These logs effectively reduce wave energy, protect shorelines from erosion, and create a conducive environment for the establishment of aquatic vegetation. With their flexible nature, coir logs adapt to fluctuating water levels and wave action, making them suitable for lakeshores and areas with varying water conditions. Additionally, coir logs can be easily installed and are available in different diameters and lengths, offering versatility for erosion control projects.
